Choose Your Way

As most of you know I was reading The Barbarian Way. I have been sharing my thoughts on the book and since I just recently finished I am going to share a couple more parts that I particularly liked. Of course, to be perfectly honest- I could type the whole book! It was a great one; thought provoking and challenging. It encouraged me and reminded me why I am at C3 and not any other church. I’m sure there are others out there, but C3 is for me. If for nothing else for the one fact that C3 is willing to do what it takes to reach people far from God. They are willing to truly (not just say it- but do it) love people and be relevant, so as to connect with the community.
Anyway- here are a few quick parts that I loved:

“Anyone who chooses the barbarian way will learn quickly that love and sacrifice cannot be separated.”

“The civilized Christian does what is right out of fear; the barbarian does what is right out of love. The civilized Christian is held together by rules and rituals; the barbarian revolt is fueled by the passion of God and guided by the mission of God.”

“There’s a future to be created, a humanity to be liberated. We need to stop wasting our time and stop being afraid of what we cannot see and do not know. We need to move forward full force because of what we do know.”

“There’s a world that desperately needs God, a world filled with loneliness, hopelessness, and fear. We have somehow become deaf to a cry that reaches heaven coming from the souls of men. But God hears.”

“He leads us as warriors of light to risk our lives for the deliverance of others. Again, our own weapons are love, hope, and faith, and they are our only defense. Yet we above all know that they and only they liberate us and fulfill the deepest longings of our souls.”

Those are just a few…I would definitely recommend this book to anyone. Like I said- it was incredibly challenging and thought provoking…I could say so much more about it, but I think it’s still all processing in my head! Maybe more later-

-I hope everyone has a happy Friday
